If you have a retired iceberg salad at the back of your fridge that's too old for an actual salad, in 10 minutes you could make a nice snack. Works great with charred red sauce, but could be served with any other sauce you have: pesto, or even a salad dressing.



Yields 1 portion

  • iceberg salad
    asĀ much asĀ youĀ have
  • salt
  • sesame seeds


  1. Remove theĀ root from theĀ iceberg andĀ cut theĀ iceberg into 2Ā cmĀ slices, discard theĀ root.
  2. Char both sides onĀ aĀ pan without adding oil, onĀ medium-high heat, until softened andĀ burned aĀ bit.
  3. Serve with salt, sesame seeds, andĀ any sauce youĀ have.
